Anyone that has ever planted a garden knows that the ground must be prepared and the crop must be planted before there can be a harvest.  The same principle is true when dealing with the human heart.

E.M. Bounds prays the following prayer in response to the Holy Scriptures.

Dear Lord God, help us to prepare the ground through our prayers, so that Your Word will take root in people’s hearts and produce a crop. Amen.

2 Thessalonians 3:1…Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you; (NASB)

Prayer is the spiritual preparation that opens the human heart to receive the seeds of truth.  The most hardened heart can become pliable through the work of God’s Holy Spirit.

Will you pray today for your pastor, for your church, and for yourself that God would go before you and prepare hearts so that the message of Christ will spread?
