Every good thing given ad every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadows.
– James 1:17 (NASB)
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His lovingkindness is everlasting.
– Psalms 136:1 (NASB)
I cannot think of a better way to end our thoughts on gratitude, than to talk about the goodness of God. The notion that God is good, and that He is good to us, His creation, is a common thread in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
If you have followed along with us over these past thirty days, you have taken an inventory of all the ways that you are blessed. No doubt that you have much more to give thanks for than you have to complain about. If you have that list handy, maybe you could pull it out for just a moment. If not, pause a moment, and recount some of the things that have come to mind as you have progressed this month.
Here is the bottom line: Everything on that list and everything else that you can think of that you should be grateful for, is a gift from God. He is the source of everything good that has come into your life.
Now stop. Let that sink in.
God is good!
And… He is good to you!
Thank Him and praise Him. He deserves all that you can give!
