Prayer or communicating with God is a subject that comes up often in the pages of scripture.
Paul often begins many of his letters with the affirmation that he is praying for and has been praying for those that are receiving the letter.
We see Jesus getting away often in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to pray.

Everyone of us has a story to tell about someone making our day better because they did something nice for us. Kindness seems to be magical. One act of kindness can turn around what seems to be the worst of circumstances.
While all of us know how good it feels to be on the side of receiving an act of kindness we sometimes forget how great it would be to be on the giving side of an act of kindness. In our world it is all to easy to get preoccupied with our own troubles or get consumed with the busyness of our schedule that we don’t make time to brighten another’s day. Continue reading
Forgiveness can be a hard thing to do. It can feel like we are letting someone off the hook if we forgive them. As if they have been given a free pass to get away with their dastardly act against us.
For most of us, we seem to drift towards wanting justice instead of offering forgiveness. There is something in us that wants the other person to pay the proper price for what they have done. This would include them realizing that they have wronged us and then offering a genuine apology for what they had done. Continue reading
“Well… there it is,” you are exclaiming, if you have been following along. The conversation always comes around to reading your bible, praying, and going to church.
I don’t really have a defense for you if this comes across as being negative nor do I have an apology. Being consistent in my attendance at church benefits me in so many ways. I am surrounded by people that love me and want God’s best for me. I am around people that will pray for me. I am around people that go out of their way to love my children. I am surrounded by people that are on the same journey that I am on so they understand how difficult it is to live holy in a sinful world. And the list goes on and on. Continue reading
