When people ask me about prayer they often asked questions about what they should say. In our early days of prayer all of us approach it as if we are the only ones with something to say. We never consider that God might have something to say to us.
We must always be mindful that prayer is a two way communication. As much as God wants to hear from you he also want you to hear from him. Learning to listen is a critical part of two way communication and prayer is no different.
When listening for God be reminded that he does not often speak with claps of thunder and the shaking of the ground. The voice of God is often heard as a whisper and without fanfare. Often times it will be a simple thought or an idea.
One word of caution. Many people do things that are wrong and say they were just listening to God. God will never lead you to do anything that is contrary to the Bible or what you see in the character of Jesus.
