Many people do not realize it but the old adage that says, “It is better to give than receive,” is very much true. If all we do is go through life with a consuming mindset we run the risk of never being satisfied. Our hearts will yearn for more and more in hopes that the next new thing will renew our sense of joy.
The problem with a consumers mindset is that it leads us to crave bigger, better, and newer. And, the feelings that bigger, better, newer invoke are only temporary. The feeling is fleeting.
However, if we learn to be givers then we do not always need to receive in order to feel satisfied. The act of giving becomes a gift in and of itself. Here is what the bible says on the matter:
Luke 6:38…38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Isn’t it ironic that we can become receivers if we will learn to be givers. In this scenario we are not consumers yet we still receive with great measure. The bible says that we will receive in the same measure that we give.
If we want to experience the gifts of God then we must learn how to give and not consume. Will you begin the habit of giving today?
