Everyone of us has a story to tell about someone making our day better because they did something nice for us. Kindness seems to be magical. One act of kindness can turn around what seems to be the worst of circumstances.
While all of us know how good it feels to be on the side of receiving an act of kindness we sometimes forget how great it would be to be on the giving side of an act of kindness. In our world it is all to easy to get preoccupied with our own troubles or get consumed with the busyness of our schedule that we don’t make time to brighten another’s day.
I have heard it said that the best way to soothe my own pain is to help soothe the pain of another that is hurting. This also, is the encouragement given to us as followers of Christ.
Ephesians 4:32…32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (NIV)
Being kind is another of the attributes that God wants us to adopt because it reflects the heart of Christ. We can experience God being filled with his joy as we show kindness to others. Kindness is one of those gifts that is equally beneficial to the receiver and the giver.
What are you waiting for? Go and be kind to someone today.
