31 DAYS TO A BETTER PRAYER LIFE | DAY 27: IT’S OK TO QUESTION

Everyone that has ever prayed has asked God questions.

Usually those questions are something like this:

· God, what do you want me to do in this situation?

· Father, should I accept this new job opportunity?

· Lord, who do you want me to pray for today?

Those are good questions and they should be asked.

However, there are questions that we may assume aren’t appropriate to ask.

Like these:

· God, why did you let this happen?

· Father, are you even there?

· Lord, will you still love me if I have some doubts about you?

We may cringe at the thought of asking our creator such questions. But if we are thinking them, then we might as well ask them.

He knows, He understands, He answers.

As a matter of fact, when I’ve had friends who weren’t believers express doubt about God’s existence, I challenge them. I encourage them to pray this.

· God, if you are there, show me in some way.

It’s ok to express doubt; He is big enough to handle that. It’s ok to question why He would let something happen. It’s even ok to express your confusion about the way He works in your life.

Whatever you do, don’t hold back.

Speak from your heart, speak truthfully and have faith in the one who was, who is and who will always be able to handle it all.
