28 WAYS TO EXPERIENCE GOD | #3: FREE

28 WaysYou can’t be free to experience God while being a slave to your own ego.

You can’t be free to experience God while being a slave to the opinions of others.

You can’t be free to experience God while being a slave to your own past.

You can’t be free to experience God while being a slave to fear.

You get the point. Don’t you?

It’s a simple concept to understand but a difficult reality to live.

When the son (of God) sets you free, you are free indeed.

Awhile back I read an interesting story about the time period immediately after American slavery.

The recently freed slaves had homes of their own; they were free to do almost anything they wanted. Unfortunately they had not learned yet how to be self-sufficient. The oppressors in that society owned the markets where food and other goods were sold, guaranteeing the former slaves would live in poverty because of the high prices. Some felt hopeless until a few quickly figured out how to grow and maintain their own gardens and care for their own livestock. They learned how to make some of their own goods. Only then were they as free as others.

You may have been set free by the grace of God through His son.

But, are you still dependent on the things of this world?

Your ego could be holding you back; maybe you think you know better than God. The opinion of others may very well be too important in your life. Your past may be keeping you from freely serving God. And fear can enslave all of us if we aren’t guarding against it.

You can be free in Christ to experience all that God has for you.

But you can’t be totally liberated until you identify and let go of the thing that enslaves you.

I wonder what may be enslaving you; I hope you will ask God to set you free from it.

He is more than capable of setting you free and helping you walk in the liberty that comes from experiencing God.
